Ambassador Profile
Steve Taylor - American Family Insurance
Steve began his career with American Family Insurance in 1971. After three years in agency, he was promoted to District Sales Manager and has held that position for the last 29 years. Steve’s district of 32, Johnson, Wyandotte, and Leavenworth County, agents ranks as one of the leading sales districts throughout American Family. Much of that success comes from four Lenexa agents--all who are active in the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce: Craig Jorgensen, Paul Ridgway, Connie Fortner and Pat Kelly. In recognition of their key roles with the Chamber, this American Family Insurance group was awarded the Business and Industry Hall of Fame award in 1998.
Steve has been a member of the Chamber since 1987. Over the years, in addition to serving on numerous committees, he was on the Board of Directors from 1994-1998. Other leadership positions have been: Chairman of the Board in 1997, Chairman of the Leadership Lenexa Alumni Board from 1993-95, and Chairman of the Ambassadors for 2000 and 2001. In 2001, he was the first recipient of the Spirit of the Chamber Award.
Steve and his wife, Debbie, are the VERY proud grandparents of 5 year-old, Nicholas and 2 year-old Ryan, whose parents are Josh and Julie Taylor of Minneapolis, MN. Steve and Debbie are also the parents of the late Matt Taylor.
Steve enjoys supporting various charitable causes, many for the benefit of children through his involvement with the Lenexa Kiwanis Club. He is also a strong supporter of blood donation, and in 2002, Steve was recognized for having given his 100th pint of blood, and, as of this date (7/2006), that total now is 14 gallons of blood.
As for hobbies, Steve is an avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, golfer, and Jayhawk and Chiefs fan.
