Leadership Lenexa Teaches, Inspires
Class prepares tomorrow's community leaders
Each year 20 representatives of the community have bypassed going to the office. Instead, they have convened at various sites of interest across Lenexa and the metro-area to learn more about the community where they live and how they can make a difference.
The Lenexa Chamber of Commerce founded Leadership Lenexa in 1987 as a community leadership development program. Year after year, the participants who applied to the program had only two things in common: they worked full-time and they were concerned about community issues.
Prior to their graduation in July, participants will have heard from a number of business and community leaders, participated in site tours, learned the inner workings of local, county and state government, examined current trends in education, discovered the secrets to a successful economic development program and participated in a political campaign simulation exercise. In addition, participants will have opportunities to explore and strengthen personal leadership competencies and build both business and personal contacts.
Applications for the 2008 Leadership Lenexa are now being accepted. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, January 25. 2008 information will be mailed in early December to all Chamber members. For additional information or to receive an application by mail contact Kim Wheeler at (913) 888-1414.
