BERGER DEVINE YAEGER OPEN HOUSE AND RIBBON CUTTING
Overland Park – The architectural firm of Berger Devine Yaeger, Inc. (BDY) will hold an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to officially open its new headquarters in Overland Park, Kan.
BDY is occupying more than 20,000 square feet of at 7780 W. 119th St., directly west of Rosana Square Shopping Center. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Carl Yaeger, the firm’s president designed the nearly 50-employee headquarters of BDY.
“We see the space as a win-win,” Yaeger said. “It is a way to market our creative talents and work in a newly redesigned structure.”
“We had simply outgrown our space. We started looking at sites and thought this location would challenge us,” Yaeger said. “We basically took a 1970’s suburban vanilla box building and created a ‘wow’ space.”
The entry showcases the firm’s identity with a modern yet economical look. Yaeger designed the exterior entrance into a half-moon shape with floor to ceiling windows for a more inviting entry and extensive landscaping. Once inside, guests are treated to an electronic display on a sculpted wall and nine LCD screens with architectural renderings and finished works decorate the lobby.
“We used big-stroke bold ideas to design the facility,” he said. “Offices on the perimeter of the building are divided into a studio-like environment for 10 people promoting team workspace.”
Also two lofts include an informal conference space with movable furniture and a lounge where teams can gather to brainstorm in a less formal setting. On the majority of projects, BDY provides pre-design services of site planning, facility condition reports, programming and master planning.
BDY was formerly located in the Uptown Theater location in Midtown.
Current BDY projects include: the second phase of Park Place Village in Leawood; two new chapel projects at Ft. Leavenworth and Ft. Leonard Wood; recently completed conversion of four historic buildings at Ft. Leavenworth into high-tech classrooms; new entry and re-design of ballroom/conference space at Argosy Casino and a 1,900-acre destination development in Carbondale, Ill, similar to the Legends and Schlitterbahn in Kansas City, Kansas.
Founded in 1973, BDY provides architectural, interiors, and planning design services to a growing roster of clients on local, national and international projects.
