BETTER TOGETHER
An effort that has blossomed from the collaborative work from several of our Lenexa Churches. Our ecumenical group of churches is called BETTER TOGETHER. Our plan is for Lenexa churches to join together in our efforts to better serve our community.
Our first joint effort will be a benefit concert that will be held on Friday-November 5, 2010 – 7:30 pm - at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lenexa Stake Center, 21515 West 101st Street, Lenexa, Kansas. This concert will feature the choirs of six of our area churches:
St. Paul’s Methodist Church
Community Covenant Church
Central Church of the Nazarene
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Lakeview Village
Holy Trinity Catholic Church
Those attending the concert will gain admittance in exchange for a bag of groceries. All donated items will go to the Food Pantry of the Johnson County Multi-Service Center (12425 West 87th Street-Lenexa).
We hope to fill the church that Saturday evening for a beautiful concert and the Food Pantry on the following Monday morning with much needed food for the less fortunate. Any promotion that the Lenexa Chamber and the City Council can give us for this event would be greatly appreciated. If you have a P.R. person who would like more information about this event, please have them give me a call as any and all media coverage would be beneficial to the cause.
We are hopeful that a successful event will not only serve the needs of the Food Pantry, but also draw awareness to the needs of our community. To that end, it is also our prayer that many more of our Lenexa churches will wish to join in future BETTER TOGETHER efforts in unifying our ideas and efforts toward the service of others.
