MEMBER NEWS CYDEX PHARMACEUTICALS ADDS INDUSTRY VETERAN TO ACCELERATE PRODUCT COMMERCIALIZATION INITIATIVES Richard G. White Appointed Vice President of Business Development and Marketing LENEXA, Kan.--CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that Richard G. White has been named as the company’s vice president of business development and marketing. He will report to Theron E. Odlaug, CyDex’s president and chief executive officer. At CyDex, White will be responsible for establishing partnerships and developing marketing plans to accelerate commercialization of leading products in the company’s drug pipeline. As CyDex’s senior business development person, he also will be responsible for identifying new product opportunities in the acute care hospital market, as well as for expanding and managing the company’s strategic relationships with pharmaceutical companies worldwide. “Rick’s extensive pharmaceutical career includes managing several product lines and successful launches,” said Odlaug. “His experience will be critical to CyDex as we seek strategic partners interested in combining their compounds and drugs with our Captisol technology to enable creation of new products. Our goal is to develop a portfolio of Captisol-enabled® new medications for which we intend to pursue FDA registration and commercialization directly.” Prior to joining CyDex, White held several positions at Astellas Pharma Inc., including most recently vice president of portfolio/strategic planning and vice president of sales and marketing for the Critical Care division. In this role, White was responsible for marketing communications and product management for several therapeutic lines including cardiovascular, anti-infective/oncology, dermatology and immunology/transplantation. White previously held positions at Merck & Company and Stuart Pharmaceuticals.
