LOCAL GBA ENGINEERS EARN PE STATUS LICENSES
 
        Lenexa, Kan. – GBA, a leading engineering and architectural firm with headquarters here and offices in the St. Louis and Chicago metro areas, is pleased to announce that four staff members recently earned professional engineering (PE) status.  Sarah Smith, Nick Hoyt, Jennifer Gunby, and Julie Peterson have received the PE designation.   The requirements to become a professional engineer include four years of professional experience under a licensed professional engineer and passing the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) examination.         
          Smith, who joined GBA’s Stormwater/Environmental Group in 2004, earned an undergraduate degree in architectural engineering and a MS degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on water resources engineering from the University of Kansas. Her experience includes drainage studies, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and storm sewer design.
          Hoyt, an engineer with the firm’s Wastewater/Water Group, has provided project engineering for many sanitary sewer projects. He holds a BS degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas. Since joining GBA in 2004, Hoyt’s project work has included flow data analysis, modeling, and development of system recommendations, as well as I/I investigations and other field data collection services.
           Gunby, a LEED AP and engineer for the firm’s Civil/Site Development Group, also joined GBA in 2004 after earning BS and BA degrees in civil engineering and business administration, respectively, from the University of Kansas. Gunby’s project experience includes sustainable design solutions for mixed-use, commercial, retail, and office development. 
          Peterson, LEED AP, joined GBA’s Stormwater/Environmental Group in 2004.  Her project experience includes storm drainage studies, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, BMP design, and lake/dam design.   Peterson earned a BS degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University.
          GBA, which was founded in 1969, is a full-service engineering and architectural firm with a staff of 230 located in headquarters in Lenexa and in offices in St. Louis, O’Fallon, and Kansas City in Missouri, and in Lisle, Ill.
