The Johnson County Christmas Bureau is a non-profit 501(c)(3) United Way Agency that collects and distributes groceries, personal care items, clothing and gifts. All items are new with the exception of used coats and books. We hold our annual Holiday Shop the first week in December in a donated space. The Shop is open by appointment for low-income residents of Johnson County, Kansas. Merchandise and donations are collected year-round in order to prepare for shop. Clients are referred from SRS, Catholic Charities, schools, churches and other agencies. In 2009 the number of low income people served was 2,855 families or 10,387 individuals. 72% were women and children. This year we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary of serving Johnson County families during the holidays.
