Media Services Joins Harvesters Community Food Network in the Souper Bowl of Caring
( Kansas City, MO) - Media Services and ShredTime is helping Harvesters Community Food Network reach a goal to raise over 20,000 pounds of food and unite 1,500 volunteers to feed the hungry in our community during the Souper Bowl of Caring event (www.souperbowl.org).
Media Services has volunteered to provide its corporate neighbors in the Hunt Midwest Subtropolis with 96 gallon bins to hold donations and has offered to pick-up and distribute the donations to Harvesters at the end of the food drive. The Media Services team is also contributing by collecting non-perishable food items for donation.
“This is an event that brings our entire staff and corporate neighbors together,” said Angie Washington, Vice President of Administration for Media Services and ShredTime. “Each year our goal is to dig deeper into our pockets and increase our donation. I think everyone who participates would agree that it doesn’t take much effort to make a big difference.”
The Souper Bowl of Caring began as a youth group project and has grown into a national, youth-led event. Since 1990, people of all faiths and ages have joined the Souper Bowl of Caring to raise $28 million for those in need. Donations may be in the form of non-perishable food items or through on-line monetary gifts. The Souper Bowl of Caring Week is held Monday, February 1 and ends on this 44th year of football Super Bowl; Sunday February 7, 2010.
