METROPOLITAN FAMILY VIOLENCE COALITION'S BRIDGESPAN PROGRAM RECEIVES $300,000 GRANT FROM HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION OF GREATER KANSAS CITY
Overland Park, KS – Today, Overland Park Regional Medical Center was named one of the nation's top performing hospitals on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the nation's leading accreditor of health care organizations.
The Joint Commission publicly released its list of top performing hospitals during a national telephone news conference today. This is the first time The Joint Commission publicly released the names of the nation's top performing hospitals.
In total, The Joint Commission is recognizing four HCA Midwest Health System hospitals - Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital, and Lafayette Regional Health Center.
This national recognition is based on data reported on 22 evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
"Overland Park Regional Medical Center is honored to earn this national recognition," says Gay Nord, President and Chief Executive Officer of Overland Park Regional Medical Center. "Our physicians and staff strive to care for every patient using the best evidence-based medicine."
Using these evidence-based measures has saved lives and resulted in better care and quality of life for thousands of patients. Better performance also helps Overland Park Regional Medical Center meet the pay-for-performance requirements of federal and state governments and private payers.
"We know employers, insurance companies, and consumers choose healthcare providers who not only provide high quality care but who also provide cost effective and efficient care," adds Nord.
Overland Park Regional Medical Center is one of 405 hospitals in the nation earning the distinction of top performer on key quality measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Inclusion on the list is based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the previous calendar year.
Overland Park Regional Medical Center is being recognized for achieving quality thresholds in every key quality measure for which it provides care, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
"We understand that what matters most to patients is safe, effective care. That's why HCA Midwest Health System is making a commitment to accreditation and to positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes," says Darryl Nelson, MD, HCA Midwest Health System Medical Director for Quality. "Today, the public expects transparency in the reporting of performance at the hospitals where they receive care, and The Joint Commission is shining a light on the top performing hospitals such as the four HCA Midwest Health System hospitals that have achieved excellence on a number of vital measures of quality of care," says Mark R.
