SAFEHOME RECEIVES $50,000 CHALLENGE GIFT
Overland Park, Kan. - SAFEHOME, Johnson County’s only comprehensive provider of domestic violence services received a challenge gift to ultimately raise $150,000 for the agency. An anonymous donor made an initial gift of $50,000 and challenged SAFEHOME and its supporters to raise an additional $50,000. If the challenge is met, the donor will help raise a third $50,000 gift to create a total investment of $150,000 for SAFEHOME services to domestic violence victims in our community.
SAFEHOME Executive Director Sharon Katz stated, “We are so thrilled with this opportunity. It has been a tough year, with dramatically increased need for our services, especially for women and children who are under immediate threat to their lives and safety. Our generous friend has given a great incentive to the community to see their gifts to SAFEHOME doubled! We can accept cash, checks or even appreciated stock for 2011 or 2012 giving.”
To make a donation, please contact Development Director Kelly Willoughby at 913-378-1516 or you may make an online donation at www.safehome-ks.org. Gifts are fully deductible and year-end contributions welcomed.
$150,000 will provide:
- 333 nights of safety for women and children threatened by domestic violence
- 1,110 hours of counseling support for families rebuilding their lives
- Hundreds of hours of prevention education; support for victims of teen dating violence; a knowledgeable and caring advocate to be with victims in the hospital or in court
- Hours of critical response through SAFEHOME’s 24 hour hotline services
