Lenexa, Kan. – George Butler Associates, Inc. (GBA), an engineering and architectural firm headquartered here, has added the following staff: John Cooper, P.E., joins GBA’s Highways and Streets Group as an Associate and Manager of Construction Field Services for the firm’s Transportation Group. In this position he oversees construction management and inspection services for state and interstate highways, municipal streets and roadways, and county roads. Cooper’s almost 15 years of experience include projects ranging in magnitude from traffic signal installations to multi-million dollar interstate reconstruction. (DBIA). Cooper currently serves on the Lenexa, Kansas, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a 2004 graduate of and 2005-2006 Co-Chairman of Leadership Lenexa. Dawn O’Malley has joined the company as a Market Development Manager responsible for the firm’s Water Environment, Civil/Site Development, Roof Consulting, and Municipal Engineering groups. In this position she will lead efforts to strategically position the groups in their key markets, including associated branding and marketing. O’Malley has nearly 15 years of experience providing marketing and business development services for engineering and architectural firms in the Midwest. Heidi Thummel joins GBA as a Market Development Manager responsible for strategic marketing and business development for the firm’s Studio 4 and Transit + Fleet Works design studios. Studio 4 focuses on providing integrated planning and design services for corporate office and mixed-use development, and on providing land planning services for other project types. GBA’s Transit + Fleet Works studio provides planning and design services for public- and private-sector fleet maintenance facilities, municipal services complexes, freight transportation facilities, and intermodal facilities. Thummel is currently participating in the 2008 Leadership Lenexa program.
