Lenexa City Center

As the result of Vision 2020, a community-driven planning committee, Lenexa City Center was designed as our new downtown. Combining a mix of shopping, restaurants, entertainment venues, office and living spaces, and hotels, this walkable neighborhood is located at 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard.

The 200-acre district is conveniently located along highly traveled I-435 near the Johnson County Gateway Interchanges where I-35 and I-435, U.S. 69, K-10, and K-7 meet. Lenexa City Hall, Lenexa Rec Center, and Lenexa Public Market are the centerpieces of the area. Close by you can find the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center and a branch of the Johnson County Library system.

The SMSD Aquatic Center is home to the largest pool in Johnson County. The facility serves local students and the entire community. This service is made possible through a partnership between the school district, Johnson County Parks and Recreation, and the City of Lenexa.

The design celebrates the spirit of competition with layers of transparency provided in each area of the building so that viewers both inside and out can see events happening within the building.
